The Driver Sweeper did remove the ATI Drivers completely; after rebooting the screen resolution was low and the HD was recognized as "an unknown adapter" by Windows.

The odd thing was that after the uninstalling process I wasn't able to install the new drivers. I run the newest installation wizard, but it didn't try to install any drivers. As if the graphics card was in some sort of "passive mode" and the driver installation wizard could not recognize the card in the system.

After the installation I rebooted the computer, but the screen resolution remained low and the card was still recognized as an unknown adapter. After this episode, I was forced to use Vista's System Restore to get the old drivers back to word. If your computer has on-board video, I'd power off, connect the display to it and physically remove the card, then reboot. Even if you don't have on-board video on your motherboard, I'd power off and try reseating the card, it might be 'loose'.
