This is likely to become part and parcel of all your 40K games in the future, so, you know - take note. June brought us the Adepta Sororitas codex, and July provided the Orks as well — at least if you got it as part of their Beast Snagga army box, that is.

The 9th edition Adeptus Custodes codex will release in early , according to the latest update from Warhammer Community. Originally planned to release this coming December , Games Workshop teased the codex as an accompaniment to Shadow Throne , the next double army boxed set coming to Warhammer 40k.

It will also include the usual bundle of Stratagems, Relics, and Warlord Traits. Also delayed is the next Xenos book, the Genestealer Cults codex. Similar to the release of the Grey Knights and Thousand Sons codexes earlier this year, the Genestealer Cults codex and Adeptus Custodes codex were both planned for release alongside the upcoming Shadow Throne battlebox , featuring the two armies in a battle beneath Terra.

While that box will release in December, shipping delays have pushed the books to next year. Technically, the codex had already been released as part of the Black Templars Army Box back in October, but only received a standalone release the month after.

A standalone version of the 9th edition Orks codex is now out in the wild. That means you can now grab the book even if you missed out on the Beast Snagga box earlier in the year. The codex includes updated rules for all Ork factions, not just the squig-obsessed Beast Snaggas, and makes some hefty changes to the Waaaagh. Alien and proud: Our Warhammer 40k Xenos factions guide. Both the 9th edition Grey Knights and Thousand Sons codexes will release alongside their upcoming double-army battlebox, Hexfire: Supernatural Warfare in the 41st Millennium.

Announced in a Warhammer Community post on July 26, the box of 29 minis contains a small force for each faction, and two brand new character miniatures to lead them: Castellan Crowe for the daemon-hunting Grey Knights, and the new Infernal Master character model for the Egyptian-loving warp wizards. As for content, we can expect the usual fancy new rules, updated points values, and powerful abilities, alongside some more tantalising features. The Adepta Sororitas 9th edition codex went up for pre-order on June 5, before releasing a week later on June You can grab yourself a copy from the GW webstore now.

As is so often the case in Warhammer 40k, however, now that the new rules have been subjected to real-world play, 9th edition Drukhari have quickly become a top-tier competitive army, with multiple recent tournament wins. That promise has been borne out, and then some. Maybe Dark Eldar are getting some changes to the strat soon? Or maybe they don't want Craftworlds to be too mobile and untouchable with Battle Focus.

Iron Warrior Project. Or, I was surprised that the Novitiates rules were released online and in White Dwarf. I am guessing against their enemies. There are several units that have this rule such as Sanguinary Guard. It provides extra protection for fragile units that want to be in melee but no protection if they get caught flat-footed in the open.

That is very plausible. The other thing to remember is that a Wave Serpent is significantly more durable than a DE or Harlie Transport and is also not open topped. If you have to get in an out through a hatch in an ordered fashion, it makes sense that it takes a bit longer than vaulting into an open-topped vehicle.

Balanced and thematic at the same time assuming the rumours are accurate of course. Check out my White Scars here. My finshed Tzeench army log here. Tanky Iyanden Wraiths! It'll be interesting to see if they have any survivability baked in and if Iyanden doubles down on it, or of Iyanden becomes the only way to run them. Looking forward to it though, Wraiths are awesome models.

I took ballistics in school. Fascinating subject. Things go up! Things go down! We'll see what the leaks suggest in a few days but I think Wraith constructs will already have -1 damage. The early info we have on CA22 has me feeling like the best way to play is going to bully the centre with a hyper-durable obsec blob and then control the map with fast, punchy units and a respectable amount of shooting.

Just can't wait to see the rules so I can start my next project! Wraiths are going to be very difficult to chew through, with 3W each there's little in the game that reliably one-shot a Wraith. Axes seem very handy now too.

To name a few: Death Guard, Prophets of flesh and dreadnoughts all have -1D. Community Forum Software by IP. Sign In Create Account. Welcome to The Bolter and Chainsword Register now to gain access to all of our features.

I guess it stops them stomping at low point games but then no other faction currently has rules like this That suggests Harlequin Kill Team, but they seem like a bad choice unless paired with a faction that sells super well Not having it in codex seems weird too.

Aarik and Talbaz like this. I'm not a huge fan of doing things like that but I get why they do. Karhedron and Dark Shepherd like this. Is the -1 to Hit in melee against the Harlies or their enemies, the wording is vague? Posted 10 December - PM. Putting my dislike of the faction aside, that would kinda be a rather extreme debuff. If this is the case, I. Edited by Khornestar, 10 December - PM. Black Blow Fly likes this. Sanguinius stood up, stretching his wings to their full extent. He flexed his hands.

It was as though Sanguinius gleamed with pale light, his face white, eyes becoming blood-red, surrounded by the golden crown of flowing hair. Guilliman had witnessed glimpses of of his brother's wrath before, but had never seen the true Blood Angel unleashed. Sanguinius surged forward on alabaster wings, half a meter from the floor, whiteness streaming from him like flames.
